Prospective Administrators

 

Administrators who supervise apprentices are innovative, flexible thinkers and leaders. They commit to the "grow-your-own" teacher preparation model and to supporting a novice in forging a path merging general and special education systems. They ensure that the apprentice meets entry and exit requirements and is given opportunities to fulfill all of their commitments to the program.

Apprentice Selection
  • meets entry standards 

  • possesses professional dispositions listed under "Prospective Apprentices"

Commitments
  • Collaborate with FreeTeacher U for technical assistance and to facilitate data collection

  • Apprentice meets entry and exit standards

  • Apprentice is fully integrated into strong teacher team (selected team must meet at least every two weeks, be responsible for planning around student data, addresses academic and/oror behavioral issues, and includes at least one special education and at least one general education teacher)

  • Apprentice has opportunity to teach daily and fulfill all program requirements

 

Requirements
  • guide and monitor Apprentice's work

  • provide coaching as per guidelines

  • provide appropriate opportunities to complete requirements

  • ensure Apprentice meets entry and exit standards
